Mid-Autumn Festival in Chinese Zhongqiu Jie (中秋节) is also known Mooncake Festival. It is a traditional festival of China and is observed on the 8th month (August) 15th day of the Chinese calendar. To stay connected with family during the Mid-Autumn Festival,Chinese people will have 3 days (from Sept.10th to Sept.12th in 2022) public holidays to celebrate the festival with their family and enjoy Mooncakes in full brightness of the moon.

 

How Mid-Autumn Festival Celebrated

The festival is a celebration of many fruits as well as rice harvest. It is celebrated to pay thanks to the moon for the harvest. Owing to the round shape and brightness of the moon on this day, it represents the meaning of a family reunion. Chinese People enjoy this festival for the sake of family reunion and enjoy family dinners plus family gossip.

Eating & Greetings of Mid-Autumn Festival

Mooncake eating (the most important & iconic food of the Mid-Autumn Festival that symbolizes sweetness and completeness and while admiring the moon's beauty & completeness). Moon cakes are made from glutinous rice, which has been pressed into small balls and coated in red bean paste.

Mooncakes are also sent to friends and relatives to remember and show love & care to each other. Similarly, Chinese people make beautiful lanterns and carry them for moon gazing, hang them with trees and release them into the sky. Happy Mid-Autumn Festival!
